James Christensen is the new Director of Memory Care at the Ventura Townehouse. He is responsible for ensuring the community’s culture and programming are progressive, innovative, and industry leading. James started in the senior living industry as an Enrichment Leader, leading and creating daily programs for residents in Memory Care neighborhoods. As he gained experience, he was recruited by various senior living communities to build and implement program systems in existing communities and new developments.
James comes from a military family; his grandfather served as a Marine in the Korean War, his father served 20 years in the Army, and James served six years in the Army as a military intelligence analyst. He left the Army to attend the University of South Carolina and holds a BS in Exercise Science, pre-med… he likes to remind folks he went to original USC! His upbringing and life experiences had a major impact in his desire to work with the senior population, especially influence from his mother’s Korean culture.
Working in Memory Care feels like an answer to James’ life mission call. He finds joy living life and serving his residents, always analyzing methods and approaches to improving life for the residents and community.
Why do this job?… James feels he’s paid to do what he would do for free. Just don’t tell his boss!
