March 2025 at the Ventura Townehouse

March is a time of renewal and celebration as we welcome the early signs of spring. It’s a season of fresh beginnings, where longer days and blooming flowers remind us of the beauty of change. March also brings Women’s History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions of women throughout history and in our own community. And of course, we’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a little extra luck and cheer! Whether you’re joining us for special outings, cultural events, or festive gatherings, we look forward to another exciting month filled with friendship, learning, and joy.

Women’s History Month Celebration

Since 1987, Women’s History Month has been a time to recognize the achievements of women in science, sports, activism, entertainment, politics, and beyond. This year, we’ll be honoring the amazing women of Ventura Townehouse with a special celebration.

📅 Wednesday, March 12 | 2:00 PM | Vista Room
Join Nancee and the Townehouse activity team as we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in our community.

Employee of the Month: Gustavo Diaz

Congratulations to Gustavo Diaz, our March Employee of the Month! Gustavo has been a valued member of the Townehouse team for two years and loves the friendly atmosphere of the kitchen staff. He is married to Maria from our housekeeping team, and together they have three daughters. When he’s not working, Gustavo enjoys spending time with his family, working on his home, and tending to his garden.

A Warm Welcome to John & Teddy Schneider

John and Teddy met on a blind date 30 years ago and have been inseparable ever since. John, a retired Air Force officer, and Teddy, a former real estate broker in Ojai, share a love of adventure. Over the years, they’ve traveled the world, from the Great Wall of China to a panda sanctuary where John surprised Teddy with the chance to feed a baby panda. They’ve also explored India, Tibet, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Now, they’re excited to start their next journey here at Ventura Townehouse!

Reflections from Our Residents

My Glass is Half Full – By Maxine Snelgrove
Living at Ventura Townehouse brings me comfort and joy every day. Aging is not always easy, but I find gratitude in the small things—being greeted by name, forming friendships, and feeling a true sense of belonging. I’ve been here for eight years now, and I cherish my extended family of wonderful friends, my loving children, and my ever-growing family that now includes a great-great-grandson!

Celebrating Our Long-Term Residents

Carolina Norwood
Carolina’s journey began in San Antonio, Texas, but her family’s adventurous spirit led them across the country in a custom-designed bus before settling in Lindsay, California. She followed her dream of nursing, starting as a Candy Striper and quickly proving her skills, earning just 97 cents per hour in her early career. Now retired, Carolina enjoys the social life at Ventura Townehouse and has called it home for 15 years.

Leland Bartosh
Born in Los Angeles in 1931, Leland’s life took an unexpected turn when his father bought an alfalfa ranch, shifting him from military academy life to hard ranch work. He went on to have a 37-year career in the trucking industry and, after retiring in 1999, traveled across the U.S., Canada, and Alaska with his wife, Vallory. Leland has been a proud resident of the Townehouse since 2014.
