Featured Spotlight: Renee Hamaty Piano Concert

Wednesday November 6th | 1:30pm | 7th Floor Vista Room
Join us at 1:30 pm on the 7th floor for Hot Apple Cider and fall cookies before Renee’s piano concert starting at 2 pm. If you are new to the Townehouse and you have not listened to Renee play the piano, you are in for a treat. Renée performs piano concerts here in the Vista Room on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Renee has performed worldwide as a soloist and collaborative pianist. For fifteen years she was Music Director and pianist for “Opera & Broadway Under the Stars” concerts at Arts & Letters Cafe in Santa Barbara and served as vocal faculty pianist for the Music Academy of the West’s 2013 MERIT program. In addition to her active piano collaborating schedule, Renée teaches private piano students of all ages in her Santa Barbara studio.

Thanksgiving Luncheon – Wednesday, November 27

Chef Bryan Gross will serve a traditional Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, November 27, at 11:30 am. Please make reservations for family and friends at the Front Desk. The cost for an adult guest is $20 and for children under 12 years $10. Please note: no green buck vouchers will be taken for the Thanksgiving meal. At 10 am, meet your family and friends in the front lobby for our champagne reception.

Weekly Cocktail Socials

Our Cocktail Socials have been moved to Mondays at 2pm in the Pavilion. Join Rachel and friends for drinks, snacks, and good company.

Happy Hour New Entertainer

Friday, November 1 – Join us for happy hour when we introduce a new entertainer Glenn Novack-Crooner. Glen sings great standards from the 20’s thru the 50’s. Glenn grew up listening to the Great American Songbook from a very early age. His mother, Betty Montano, was a big band singer in the 50’s and 60’s. She sang with the Jerry Rosen Orchestra, a society band and subbed for Arti Shaw and Perez Prado. “One night in 1961, mom was singing at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles and on her break, my dad “to be” offered to buy her a drink, a year later they were married.” Glenn is currently the male vocalist with the Ventura Jazz Orchestra, a 19-piece big band.

Ventura Concert Band Veterans Day Concert

Sunday, November 3 – The Ventura County Concert Band presents “An American Salute” Veterans Day Concert. Enjoy an afternoon of favorite musical selections from the good ole USA and recall historic victories and visits to the Homefront. Please meet in the front lobby at 2pm; this event starts at 3pm at Ventura High School.

Guatemalan Market Day

Tuesday, November 4 – Get an early start on your holiday shopping when we hold a special Guatemalan Market Day. Starting at 10am, we will display many handmade items, made by families from Guatemala, for sale at reasonable prices. A large portion of the proceeds go back to Guatemala to support these families. And a percentage will go to our employee gratuity fund.

Bargain Shopping Extravaganza

Wednesday, November 6 – Join Nancee for another bargain shopping extravaganza. We will leave the Front Lobby at 10:30am.

Rabbi Lockter Lecture

Wednesday, November 13 – Join Rabbi Lotker in the Vista Room at 2pm for a lecture and discussion on Gratitude and Thanksgiving: “The Secret to Happiness.”

Monthly Movie Outing

Wednesday, November 20 – We will choose a movie closer to the time and post the departing time. Let us know if you have a preference.

Resident Holiday Bazaar

Thursday, November 21 – Join us for our annual holiday arts and crafts bazaar. Each year we hold our annual Holiday Craft Bazaar. Tables will be set up in the Dining Room Lounge to display homemade craft items. On sale will be a variety of handmade jewelry, knitted items, quilts, paintings, decorative cards, books and more. All hand made by our Townehouse residents. The Townemart will have an assortment of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, gift bags and postage stamps. Please sign up in the Dining Room Lounge to reserve a table.

Christmas Tree Decorating Contest

Monday, December 2 – Christmas trees will be delivered to each floor. Meet with your neighbors on your floor to discuss ideas for decorating your neighborhood Christmas Tree. This year it will be a theme of your choosing.

Also in this month’s newsletter, you’ll meet new residents Nik Jabin and Marvin Bauer. We also honor our Employee of the Month, Bryan Hernandez.
